Juan Ayuso (UAE Staff Emirates-XRG) secured the general victory at Tirreno-Adriatico, ending safely within the peloton on the ultimate stage in San Benedetto del Tronto.

He beat Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) to the well-known trident trophy by 35 seconds after the Italian scored three bonus seconds on the day’s intermediate dash following arduous work by his crew to carry the early break again early.

Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious) rounded out the general podium, dropping two seconds and one place to Ganna after ending third on the dash. He ended up 36 seconds down on Ayuso.

Stage honours for the seventh day on the Race of the Two Seas have been taken by Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) because the peloton raced residence for one last bunch dash. The Italian sprinted from 200 metres out after a powerful lead out from Simone Consonni.

Milan headed off a late burst by Sam Bennett (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale), whereas Olav Kooij (Visma-Lease a Bike) rounded out the rostrum behind the main duo.
