Francisco Alvarez is just not within the minor leagues for one single purpose. That the Mets’ lineup plunges in effectiveness after the cleanup spot is definitely excessive on the listing.
Cue the irony machine as a result of it was Alvarez, on the onset of spring coaching, who boldly acknowledged: “I believe we’re one of the best lineup in baseball.” He meant 1-to-9. He particularly meant higher than the Dodgers.
As an alternative, the Mets have been so-so. They closed the weekend thirteenth in runs per recreation at 4.45 — the MLB common was 4.35.
The principle offender is that the totality of the lineup — the 1-to-9 of all of it — simply has not been that good.
