India Stun Australia in Perth to Take a 1-0 Lead in Border-Gavaskar Trophy

India delivered a dominant efficiency to safe a large 295-run victory over Australia within the opening Check of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the Optus Stadium in Perth. With this win, India ended Australia’s unbeaten streak on the venue since 2018, bouncing again emphatically from their current 0-3 collection loss to New Zealand.


The match concluded swiftly within the remaining session of Day 4, with India needing simply 5 overs to say the final two Australian wickets. Washington Sundar bowled Nathan Lyon for a duck, and debutant Harshit Rana sealed the win by dismissing Alex Carey for 36, leaving Australia all out for 238 of their chase of 510.


India’s Grit Regardless of a Powerful Begin


India’s first innings was removed from very best as they had been bowled out for a paltry 150. Josh Hazlewood wreaked havoc with figures of 4/29, whereas debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy fought valiantly with 41 runs in his maiden outing. Rishabh Pant contributed 37, and KL Rahul displayed resilience earlier than being dismissed controversially.


Nonetheless, India’s bowlers turned the tide underneath the fading Perth mild. Jasprit Bumrah (3/30) led a shocking fightback, claiming the prized wicket of Steve Smith for a golden duck. Debutant Harshit Rana (1/16) and Mohammed Siraj chipped in, bundling Australia out for 104 and giving India a slender 46-run lead.



Jaiswal and Kohli Shine in Second Innings


India capitalized on their slender benefit with a commanding batting show within the second innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had been dismissed for a duck earlier, redeemed himself with a stellar 161, his fourth Check century. Alongside KL Rahul (77), Jaiswal stitched a mammoth 201-run opening partnership.


Virat Kohli then piled on the distress for Australia together with his thirtieth Check hundred, ending unbeaten on 100. India declared at 487/6, setting Australia an imposing goal of 510 runs.


Australia Falter Below Strain


Australia confronted a frightening process and started their chase disastrously, shedding three fast wickets late on Day 3. Nathan McSweeney’s forgettable debut ended with a duck, whereas Marnus Labuschagne fell LBW to an inswinger.


Regardless of valiant efforts from Travis Head (89) and Mitchell Marsh (47), Australia’s batters faltered towards India’s relentless bowling. Bumrah (3/42) and Siraj (3/51) had been instrumental in dismantling the Australian lineup.

Jasprit Bumrah: The spearhead of India’s assault, Bumrah’s 9 wickets within the match had been pivotal to the staff’s success.

India’s emphatic win in Perth units the tone for the remainder of the five-match collection, with the guests now brimming with confidence. Australia might want to regroup shortly because the motion shifts to Adelaide for the second Check.
