UFC 316 on the Prudential Heart in Newark, N.J. on Saturday is headlined by a bantamweight championship rematch. Titleholder Merab Dvalishvili (19-4) and former champion Sean O’Malley (18-2, 1 NC) run it again.
Dvalishvili received the 135-pound championship by defeating O’Malley at UFC 306 at The Sphere in Las Vegas final September. He efficiently defend the title towards Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311 in January. “The Machine” is on an unbelievable 12-fight profitable streak and hasn’t tasted defeat since 2018.
O’Malley hasn’t fought because the loss to Dvalishvili. Following the UFC 306 defeat, O’Malley underwent hip surgical procedure. Totally recovered, “Suga” desires the belt again.
