Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had been at a loss to elucidate Ferrari’s depressing efficiency in qualifying on the F1 Canadian Grand Prix.

After profitable final outing in Monaco, Ferrari arrived in Montreal assured about their possibilities of difficult for an additional victory at a circuit which, on paper, was anticipated to swimsuit their 2024 automobile.

However Ferrari did not get both automobile into the top-10 in qualifying as Leclerc and teammate Sainz had been dumped out of Q2 in eleventh and twelfth.

“We’ll evaluation every little thing,” Leclerc informed Sky F1. “Clearly not completely happy to be out in Q2 and we’ll look into it.

“I believe the most important situation was that we had been so gradual. Each time it was dry circumstances we had been nowhere this weekend and we’ve obtained to look into it.

“We don’t perceive it but. We’ve obtained to look into it as a result of since FP3 we’ve been nowhere.”

Requested if the automobile feels completely different, Leclerc responded: “Oh it feels dangerous. It simply feels dangerous. There is no such thing as a grip in any respect and the tyres by no means felt prepared. That is the most important drawback.”

Each Ferrari drivers used their solely set of latest gentle tyres at the beginning of Q2 with the staff anticipating rain to fall later within the session.

However when that rain didn’t come, it meant Leclerc and Sainz needed to run on used softs when observe circumstances had been at their greatest.

Sainz echoed his teammate’s feedback and felt Ferrari would have been higher saving their set of latest tyres for the tip of Q2.

“I believe if we had executed every little thing good with the working of the brand new tyre on the finish of Q2 and never initially, and with a cleaner final nook, possibly Q3 was potential right now,” the Spaniard mentioned.

“However the actuality is that it was too tight at each level right now and it meant as quickly as you don’t do issues good you might be out in Q2, which isn’t the place Ferrari desires to be.

“While you don’t do these items good and don’t have a quick automobile, it’s once you get caught out.”

Talking to Sky Sports activities F1, Ferrari staff principal Fred Vasseur mentioned: “The tempo was okay yesterday on each circumstances, moist and dry.

“However we struggled a little bit bit extra from this morning to change on the tyres for Flip 1, as a result of we’re shedding greater than 50 per cent of the hole in Flip 1.

“It is tight. On the finish of the day Perez is sixteenth and for one or two tenths you could be out. Carlos was three tenths quicker than Charles within the final nook [before] he made a mistake. It’s like it’s however we’ve to be happy with the truth that the battle is so tight.

“For positive if you end up eleventh and twelfth you aren’t completely happy.”
