The founding father of the animal rights organisation PETA has lauded Alex Albon for his actions in Montreal on the weekend.
In a bid to keep away from hitting one of many circuit’s notorious groundhogs the Williams driver crashed inflicting injury to his automobile, and sadly terminal injury to the animal. A day later, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly was in collision with one other groundhog.
Through the years there have been many such incident involving all sorts of wildlife, Sebastian Vettel famously taking avoiding motion at a restart to keep away from a bunch of seagulls which his rivals hadn’t seen, whereas in 2007 Anthony Davidson missed out on scoring his maiden F1 factors after hitting a groundhog. Romain Grosjean, Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton are among the many different to have had comparable encounters.
PETA founder, Ingrid Newkirk, whereas praising Albon, known as on race organisers to take extra motion in a bid to stop future incidents.
„Alex Albon’s choice to swerve to attempt to miss hitting a marmot on the observe makes him a winner,“ stated Newkirk in a press release. „Displaying each braveness and compassion, he made the split-second option to worth the lifetime of a weak animal, and that wins him a spot on the PETA podium.

Following Friday’s incident, group boss, James Vowles admitted that the incident had resulted in combined feelings for Albon, a well-documented lover of animals… particularly cats!
